Methylfolate is the active form of vitamin B9, most often sold as folic acid. Folic acid is the oxidized form of folate and must be converted by reductions by the dihydrofolate reductase enzyme before it can act as a vitamin. This appears to be a slow process and sometimes incomplete in humans. Therefore, methylfolate is much more available as an active vitamin and may be used in lower doses. An excellent dietary source of folate is green leafy vegetables (foliage) as the name suggests. Daily Methylfolate tablets are available to swallow or chew, and provide an excellent quality supplemental form of folate. One tablet provides 400 mcg of L-Methylfolate. (Cellulose, Stearic Acid, Rice sweetener) 100 tablets per bottle.
